"A lot of people are using online sites to purchase things, and when we develop our work— especially the web work—we make sure that they have a good understanding of the product that they're going to buy. It's not just about buying, especially when it comes to shoes and apparel, it's about making sure they have a good understanding of what it is they're buying before they buy it.Things like having sizing tools to eliminate the need for returns, and even just the knowledge in the upfront way that we present product; in a way that talks the language of the consumers who are buying it." - Colleen Miller
"As a woman, I find it the most difficult to make the balance feel right between home and work. I'm the only mom here in a studio of 86 people. I'm the only mom. And why is that? I'm not really sure. It's a challenge because I want to be a good mom, and I want to be a good designer. And sometimes I need to put in more hours than my family can accommodate, and sometimes I need to be home when my teams at work need me. Those are really big challenges. I try my best to overcome them by making my guidelines straight and narrow, and being good about letting people know where I need to be, when. And making sure I can pick the work back up later, and making sure I'm there for my daughter when she needs me." - Colleen Miller
